USD BOOKSTORE MISSION STATEMENT

Our mission is to provide our students, faculty and staff with the valuable educational resources and tools, quality service and support necessary to achieve academic excellence. We are committed to the growth and expansion of future services and to operating a financially sound business that invests all profits in USD. In keeping with the University's mission statement, we are dedicated not only to a sustainable future, but one of peace and equality.

We provide the latest in USD apparel, hats, emblematic items, gifts, stationery, greeting cards, planners and organizers, binders, wirebounds, filler paper and dividers, desk accessories, writing instruments, back packs, general office and art supplies, dorm room accessories, class rings, graduation products, snacks, coffee and candy, etc. If you need an item not in stock, we can usually order it for you.

Textbooks
We carry all required and recommended books for your USD courses, both new and used.
Nearly 2500 titles are provided each semester. You will also find all required supplies for your courses. If you don't see a title, please ask! The Book Department will order any title for you.

General Books
We stock general reading books, including the New York Times best seller's list. These books are offered at 25% off hardcover price, 10% off paperback price. We also carry educational aides, including dictionaries, thesauruses, test preps, law reference materials, children's books, computer books, reference books, etc.

Buyback
During finals at the end of each semester, the USD Bookstore provides a buyback service. Students are encouraged to sell back books to the Bookstore. Used books help all students. We pay 50% on books re-ordered for the following semester, whether originally purchased new or used. If a title is not re-ordered (or is overstocked for our needs) a wholesale price may be offered. We are unable to buy workbooks or reproduced materials.
We also provide buyback after Summer sessions, Intersession and at the beginning of Fall and Spring semesters.

Computers
We are an Authorized Educational Reseller for Dell & Apple Computers and Epson & Hewlett Packard Printers. The USD Bookstore is also authorized to sell many popular software titles at academic pricing from Adobe, Macromedia and Microsoft. In addition, we stock a wide variety of electronic and computer supplies.

Employment
We welcome applications from USD students each semester and hire 30-50 students.  Hours of possible employment are generally 7:15 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday & 7:15 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Students must have at least a 3 hour block of time for each scheduled day.  Students are trained in many aspects of a retail operation and are employed in all areas of the Bookstore: shipping and receiving, visual merchandising, cashiering, data entry, book information and all retail departments.

USD students must apply every semester and generally work 12 - 15 hours per week.
